Winter is a great time to talk about HOT and COLD.  Introduce the concept by talking about drinks that are hot and cold.  Have the children help make a list of hot and cold drinks.  The teacher can write down their responses.

The children are going to taste hot chocolate and chocolate milk to help make the hot and cold concept more concrete.  Give each child a small cup of both hot chocolate and chocolate milk.  Ask the children how they are the same and how they are different.  The children can also choose which one they like better.  The class can graph the results!
